Durham City Offices Closing for Thanksgiving

The City of Durham will observe the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29. Most City offices, including City Hall and non-emergency facilities, will be closed during this time.

Solid Waste Services

• Office Closures: The Solid Waste Management Department’s administrative office will be closed Nov. 28 and 29.
• Curbside Collections:
  • Thursday collections for garbage, recycling, and yard waste will be completed on Friday, Nov. 29.
  • Friday yard waste customers will receive service on Monday, Dec. 2.
• Facility Closures: The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and Household Hazardous Waste Center will be closed Nov. 28 and Nov. 30. They will operate as usual on Nov. 29.

Parks and Recreation

Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR) will close its administrative office and all facilities on Nov. 28 and 29. Recreation centers will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27. For program information, call 919-560-4355 or visit DPR’s website.

Downtown Parking

Parking is free on Nov. 28 and 29 in on-street spaces, City-owned garages, and surface lots. Visit the City’s Special Event Parking Calendar for events requiring fees.

Public Transit

GoDurham and GoDurham ACCESS will provide Sunday-level service (7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.) on Nov. 28. For updates, call 919-485-RIDE, download the Transit app, or follow @GoDurhamTransit on social media.

Durham One Call

Durham One Call will be closed Nov. 28 and 29. Residents can submit service requests via:

• Online request forms.
• Durham One Call smartphone app.
• Texting 919-813-6315.
• Leaving a message at 919-560-1200.

Requests will be processed on the next business day.

Water and Sewer Emergencies

For water main breaks or sewer overflow emergencies during holidays, after-hours, or weekends, call 919-560-4344 to dispatch on-call crews.
