Durham Commissioners Discussing Data Center Moratorium
The draft, on the work session agenda for Monday, calls for a nine-month pause in unincorporated Durham County, with a public hearing tentatively scheduled for Aug. 24.

The Durham County Board of Commissioners on Monday is expected to hammer out details of a proposed nine-month moratorium on data centers.
Among the issues left to resolve:
- How long the pause should last
- Which facilities should be covered
- Whether to exempt some new or expanded projects
The purpose of the work session is to give county staff direction on a draft before proceeding to a required public hearing and vote. That's tentatively scheduled for Aug. 24.
