Launching Emerging Employees Program (LEEP)

The LEEP initiative stands as a cornerstone effort to bolster the professional journey of young people aged 15-19. This program specifically targets residents of Durham County, those enrolled in Durham Public Schools, or children of Durham County employees. Offering entry-level positions across various Durham County government departments, LEEP emphasizes the development of soft skills through weekly training sessions. Participants will receive a compensation of $15 per hour for the duration of the 6-8 week program running from June to August. Interested candidates must apply before April 12, 2024.

LEEP II: Extending the Reach

In addition to the foundational LEEP program, Durham County introduces LEEP II, tailored for Durham residents aged 19-26 who are either Durham Tech Community College students, Associate’s degree holders, or high school graduates. Like its predecessor, LEEP II focuses on entry-level job placements and soft skills enhancement, with positions available in multiple county departments. This extended program offers an attractive hourly wage of $18 and lasts for over six months, although it’s not currently accepting applications.
