Durham Offers Pumpkin Disposal

Durham Offers Pumpkin Disposal

What to do with those whole or uncarved pumpkins now that Halloween is behind us?

Starting today, the City of Durham and Keep Durham Beautiful are accepting pumpkins from 8 a.m. to noon at designated city parks, including:

  • C.M. Herndon Park, 511 Scott King Rd.
  • Valley Springs Park, 3805 Valley Springs Rd.
  • Rock Quarry Park, 701 Stadium Dr.
  • Southern Boundaries Park, 3400 Third Fork Rd.
  • Bethesda Park, 1814 Stage Rd.
  • Campus Hills, 2000 S. Alston Ave. (Parking lot)

Residents are asked to bring only unpainted pumpkins and squash. They won’t accept other decorations, candles, or glitter. They’ll be taken to the composting facility for processing.

Also, between Nov. 2 and Dec. 7, residents can drop off pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns for free at the waste disposal and recycling center at 2115 E. Club Blvd. during business hours.
