The Durham Planning Commission on Tuesday unanimously recommended against a proposed 190-home development along Virgil Road, while giving the applicant behind another housing proposal two more months to answer questions about density and access.

All 10 commissioners who voted opposed a favorable recommendation for the Reserve at Rocky Branch rezoning. Commissioner Juan P. Montes recused himself before the public hearing to avoid a potential conflict of interest.

Despite the motion's failure, the Planning Commission is an advisory board, and the Durham City Council gets final say at a later meeting.
