[In the Works] Woodcroft Parkway Extension - Updated 2026
Don't expect construction to start until next year.

Well, it really should've been on the way to reality by now. Certainly, I thought it would be.

Back in January 2024 - when Southpoint Access existed solely as a fledgling Wordpress blog rather than this newsletter - information from the City of Durham indicated that construction of the Woodcroft Parkway Extension would start in the summer of 2025 and end in winter 2027.
We'd get relief from the traffic snarls at Garrett Road and Hope Valley Road and get a safer connection between Jordan High School and Woodcroft.
Since then, a combination of NCDOT funding schedule delays, the inception of right-of-way acquisition, and outside coordination conspired to postpone the planned start of construction.

Right-of-way acquisition started this spring, according to the city's project website. Construction may start in spring 2027, if everything comes together. It's not clear yet how soon the work would wrap up.
Maybe by the time my son's a Jordan senior?
