Rogers-Herr Middle's Kenya Hill Named 2026 DPS Teacher of the Year
Other winners included Lyons Farm Elementary's Jessica On for Beginning Teacher and Paula Januzzi-Godfrey, Glenn Elementary media coordinator.

Kenya Hill, a science teacher at Rogers-Herr Middle School (and, in the interest of full disclosure, my son's teacher), on Thursday earned recognitions as the Durham Public Schools Teacher of the Year for 2026.
She received the award during the inaugural SPARKYs award program at the Durham Convention Center, held to recognize outstanding educators in the public school district.
"Behind every award is a story," said Dr. Anthony Lewis, DPS superintendent. "A student who felt supported. A family who felt welcomed. A school that became stronger because someone chose to go above and beyond."
