[SoDu Sunrise Showcase] Get Involved in the DPS Budget Process
Didn't understand the Kendrick Lamar halftime show? That doesn't lessen its artistic value. Plus, time to share your input on the Durham Public Schools budget! And Democrats in the state legislature want to keep local cops out of ICE raids.
Offer Good through Feb. 14, 2025.
Besides a game that saw the Philadelphia Eagles absolutely choke the living daylights out of the Kansas City Chiefs, seems like the most talked about aspect of the Super Bowl was the halftime show by Kendrick Lamar and SZA (with a cameo by tennis legend Serena Williams).
I've seen a lot of people decrying the performance because they didn't "get" it. Look, there are lots of things I don't get that can be considered art: bananas taped to walls, Cocomelon, The Rise of Skywalker, anything by Yoko Ono. But not all art is meant for all beholders. That doesn't mean we can't acknowledge that it's art, respectfully recognize its energy and effort, and accept that we're not always the intended audience.
(I mean, we all know who the real intended audience was, right?)
The Kendrick Lamar halftime show was a well-choreographed and produced example of epic performance art. Unlike Star Trek Section 31, which was shiny hot garbage. Some things want to be art, but just aren't.
