SoDu We Love Our Pets: Introducing Huck’s Heavenly Hangout
Southpoint Access is launching a pet-obituary feature honoring beloved companions, named for Huckleberry and open to families across Durham and beyond.
Southpoint Access knows people love their pets because I do, too. Some of us never really stop talking about them. And when we lose them, the grief is real.
That’s why I’m creating Huck’s Heavenly Hangout — a place to remember the pets who made our lives bigger, sweeter, funnier, and better.

Named in honor of my beloved Huckleberry (RIP, you big fluffy goofball), Huck’s Heavenly Hangout welcomes remembrances for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rabbits, hamsters, fish, and every other cherished companion.
Here’s how it works: Email your pet’s photo to wes.platt@southpointaccess.news. Then use the form to submit your pet’s name, age at death, breed/species, your town, and a short remembrance. Pet obituaries are often strongest when they include personal details and a loving reflection.
Please tip your neighborhood news guy at least $5 to help cover the cost. Current Southpoint Access paid subscribers get one free pet obit with membership.
