Swiss Chocolatier Läderach Opening Saturday at The Streets at Southpoint
The Aug. 22 grand opening will include a ribbon-cutting and a chocolate giveaway for the first 100 customers.

Swiss chocolate company Läderach will open a shop at The Streets at Southpoint on Saturday, Aug. 22, bringing its handcrafted chocolate bars, seasonal assortments, and signature slabs of fresh chocolate to Durham.
The grand opening will include a ribbon-cutting and a chocolate giveaway for the first 100 customers, according to a company news release. The store’s regular Saturday hours will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
“We are happy to introduce the joy of fresh Swiss chocolate to North Carolina at The Streets at Southpoint,” said Warren Dunkelberger, president of Läderach North America, in the news release.
The centerpiece of the Southpoint shop will be the company’s FrischSchoggi counter. Customers can choose from large slabs of fresh chocolate, with employees breaking off pieces that are sold by weight.
Other offerings will include single-origin chocolate bars, seasonal assortments, and rotating creations such as FrischSchoggi Dubai Dark.
Läderach, a family-owned company founded in 1962, says it manages its entire production process, from cocoa beans to the finished products sold in its stores. The chocolate is produced in the canton of Glarus, Switzerland, before being delivered to the company’s locations.
The Durham shop is part of a North American expansion that includes more than 10 new locations in 2026, according to the release. Läderach recently opened stores at Fashion Show Las Vegas and City Creek Center in Salt Lake City.
The company operates more than 250 chocolate shops in 30 countries and employs more than 2,500 people.
The Southpoint store’s regular hours will be:
- Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.
