Tell Us About the Pet You’ll Never Forget
Share a photo and a few words about the pet you’ll never forget - Huck’s Heavenly Hangout is a community space for remembering the animals who made our lives better.

If you’ve ever loved a pet, you already know they don’t stay “just pets” for very long.
They become part of the rhythm of the house. They claim their spot on the couch. They learn the sound of the treat bag. They appear in thousands of photos on our phones. And when they’re gone, the empty space they leave behind can be enormous.
That’s why Southpoint Access created Huck’s Heavenly Hangout — a place for our community to remember the animals who made our lives happier, stranger, funnier, and more loving.

The feature is named for my Huckleberry, a Great Pyrenees/golden retriever mix who died in 2015 and remains, in my completely unbiased opinion, one of the finest big fluffy goofballs ever to walk the earth.
Now I want Huck’s Heavenly Hangout to make room for your pets, too.
Dogs and cats, certainly. But also rabbits, birds, guinea pigs, reptiles, fish, horses — whatever beloved creature became part of your family. And it doesn’t matter whether you lost them last week or many years ago.
How to submit
Send a photo of your pet to wes.platt@southpointaccess.news and complete the Huck’s Heavenly Hangout submission form with your pet’s name, age, breed or species, hometown, and a short remembrance.
Tell us what made them them. The weird habit. The favorite toy. The ridiculous nickname. The thing they always did that still makes you laugh.
There is no required fee to submit a pet obituary. If you’d like to support the time and care that goes into preparing and publishing Huck’s Heavenly Hangout, you’re welcome to leave an optional $5 tip — or any amount you choose. But a contribution is never required.
Current SoDu Crew and higher paid subscribers are, of course, already supporting this work through their memberships.
Once the obituary is published, I’ll send you the link so you can share it with friends and family.
There are plenty of places online to post a picture and say goodbye. My hope is that Huck’s Heavenly Hangout can be something a little different: a permanent little corner of our local community devoted to remembering the creatures we were lucky enough to love.
Submit your pet’s story and help us fill Huck’s Heavenly Hangout with some very good boys, very good girls, and all the wonderful weirdos in between.
