Check the snack stash: Once Upon a Farm recalls toddler bars over choking risk
All Tractor Wheels flavors and lots are affected. Here’s what South Durham families should check and how to seek a refund.

South Durham parents and caregivers should check their snack supplies for Once Upon a Farm’s Tractor Wheels Organic Toddler Soft-Baked Bars, recalled nationwide because of a potentially fatal choking hazard.
The company announced the recall Oct. 30. An FDA advisory updated Nov. 3 urges consumers to stop buying or serving the bars. The agency received reports of children ages 18 to 30 months experiencing complete airway blockages after eating the product.
When chewed, the bars reportedly form a dry, sticky mass that can resist standard choking first aid. Some incidents required emergency responders and hospital observation, the FDA said.
Once Upon a Farm said three consumer complaints prompted the recall. Its announcement reported no injuries; the FDA’s separate advisory describes the emergency interventions.
What’s recalled?
Every Tractor Wheels flavor and lot is covered, including expired packages that may still be at home. The company’s notice lists unexpired “Best If Used By” dates from Oct. 30, 2026, through Aug. 26, 2027.
| Flavor or assortment | Packages included |
|---|---|
| Strawberry, Pumpkin & Beet | Five- and 10-count boxes |
| Apple, Sweet Potato & Spinach | Five- and 10-count boxes |
| Banana, Pumpkin & Cauliflower | Five-count boxes |
| Apple and strawberry variety pack | 20-count boxes |
| All three flavors | 30-count variety packs |
Tractor Wheels included in the online-only Organic Baby & Toddler Snack Sampler nine- and 12-count assortments and Organic Ultimate Snack Sampler 15-count assortment are also recalled.
The company says no other Once Upon a Farm products are affected.
Where were they sold?
The company lists North Carolina among the states where the bars were distributed. The FDA identifies Costco, Target, and Walmart among retailers selling the product nationally, along with online sellers. Its advisory does not identify individual Durham stores.
What should families do?
Stop serving the bars, and check snack bags and supplies kept with grandparents or other caregivers.
The FDA advises returning the recalled bars to the place of purchase for a refund or throwing them away immediately. Once Upon a Farm says customers can receive a full refund through the retailer or contact its customer care team for assistance.
