Voting Sticker Contest Open for Durham Children
When children accompany their parents or guardians to the polls this November, they’ll get a free sticker. Will your kid be the one to decide what that sticker looks like?
The Durham County Board of Elections, partnering with Kids Voting Durham, has kicked off a “Future Voter” sticker contest for students in grades K-12. First place wins a custom plaque and a cash prize. Second and third place receive a cash prize.
Contest Guidelines:
- Must be enrolled in a K-12 academic institution and be current residents of Durham County (including home school students).
- One sticker design submission per contest.
- Format: 2-inch circle.
- Must include the words “Future Voter.”
- Don’t use copyrighted images or designs unless permitted by purchase or written approval of the owner of the image/design.
- Can’t support or oppose a specific candidate, referendum, or other ballot item.
- No derogatory or offensive content.
- Incorporate Durham County symbols, landmarks, voting-centric themes, and/or reflect your perspective of Durham County’s values.
- Submit using an approved file format. File types will be listed in the submission survey.
- Designers must waive all creative and legal rights to the design. Top three finalists or their legal guardian must sign a waiver reflecting this stipulation before the final round of voting.
- Top three finalists must complete county documentation before receiving a monetary prize.
- Design must be submitted by deadline established by the contest managers.
Important Dates:
- Contest launch: July 15.
- Submission deadline: Aug. 11, 11:59 p.m.
- First-round voting: Aug. 16-23. Voters will be Durham County children in grades K-12.
- Second-round voting: Aug. 26-Sept. 2. Top 10 designs from first round considered. Voters will be Durham County children in grades K-12.
- Winner determined at Board of Elections meeting: Sept. 12. Top three designs considered. The elections board members will determine the order of the winners.
