2.3M Ricky Joy Sour Crush candy bottles recalled over choking hazard
Check the candy stash. More than 2.3 million Ricky Joy Sour Crush bottles have been recalled because the rollerball top can come loose and create a choking hazard. Here’s how to identify the candy and request a refund.

Families are being urged to stop using Ricky Joy Sour Crush Rolling Liquid Candy after more than 2.3 million bottles were recalled because part of the container can detach.
The rolling ball used to dispense the liquid candy can come loose, posing a risk of serious injury or death from choking, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
No injuries had been reported when the recall was announced Sept. 10.
How to identify the recalled candy
The recall covers 1.85-fluid-ounce Ricky Joy Sour Crush bottles sold individually and in packs of three or 12. The recalled flavors and bottle colors are:
- Blue raspberry in a blue bottle
- Strawberry in a red bottle
- Green apple in a green bottle
- Watermelon in a pink bottle
The front of each bottle displays the Ricky Joy logo, the words “Extreme Sour” and “Sour Crush,” the flavor name, and an image of a green monster.
The candy was sold at H-E-B, Forman Mills, and candy stores nationwide. It also was available through Walmart.com, CandyFunHouse.com, RickyJoy.com, and other online retailers from January 2023 through May 2026.
Individual bottles sold for about $3. Multipacks cost between $13 and $32.
What families should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the candy and place it somewhere children can’t reach.
Refund requests can be submitted through the Ricky Joy recall page. Consumers will need to upload photographs showing the product label, cap, lot number, and expiration date.
The company says it will provide a prepaid shipping label. Recalled candy shouldn’t be returned to the store where it was purchased.
Refunds are:
- $3 for each product that isn’t empty or expired
- $1.50 for each empty or expired bottle
Consumers also can call Ricky Joy at 404-975-0352 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday.
