Durham County voters are showing up early in substantially larger numbers than they did during the last two midterm elections.

Through Friday, Oct. 23, the county had recorded 60,033 accepted in-person early ballots, nearly 61% more than at the equivalent point before the 2022 election and about 42% more than in 2018, according to North Carolina State Board of Elections records.

Durham's growth outpaced the statewide increase, though neighboring Wake County posted a larger percentage gain. Orange County also exceeded its pace from both previous midterms.
