Some September rain has reached Durham’s reservoirs, but it hasn’t been enough to stop the city’s water supply from shrinking.

As of Sept. 22, Lake Michie and Little River Reservoir were at a combined 45% of capacity, according to the City of Durham’s latest water supply snapshot. That was down from 46% on Sept. 8.

The city estimates that Durham has 96 days of readily accessible water remaining in its reservoirs. That figure stood at 103 days two weeks earlier.

Durham remains in a moderate drought and under the mandatory Stage 2 Water Shortage Response that took effect June 15.
