IONNA, the EV charging network backed by eight major automakers, has announced a strategic partnership with Circle K to expand access to high-powered charging across the United States.

The companies said they plan to grow the network to more than 350 sites under the Rechargeries @ Circle K brand. As part of the agreement, IONNA will take over operations at sites in Circle K’s existing U.S. charging portfolio and upgrade about 85 current charging locations. The partnership also calls for new chargers at high-traffic Circle K sites that do not currently offer EV charging.

The first Rechargeries @ Circle K locations are expected to open by the end of 2026, with broader expansion planned in 2027.

IONNA was founded by BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Toyota. The company said the Circle K partnership supports its goal of building 30,000 high-power charging bays by 2030.

Circle K operates more than 7,300 stores in the United States and is positioning the partnership as part of its broader push to make EV charging more convenient for drivers. Under the agreement, the sites will offer charging speeds of up to 400 kilowatts, along with both North American Charging Standard, or NACS, and CCS connectors.

Company officials said the partnership is designed to pair fast, reliable charging with the convenience offerings already available at Circle K locations, including food, drinks, and other travel stop amenities.
