[SoDu Crime Watch] Shoplifting and Vehicle-Related Crimes Remain Prominent This Week

This week’s SoDu Crime Watch review covers 61 public-facing Durham Police Department incident listings from South Durham, Southwest Durham, and Southeast Durham corridors from July 12-16, 2026.

The information was gathered from the Durham Police Department’s Police-to-Citizen public incident listings.

The most common reported incidents this week were shoplifting and vehicle-related thefts. Shoplifting reports clustered around major retail corridors, including Fayetteville Road, Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard, Renaissance Parkway, McFarland Drive, Witherspoon Boulevard, Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, and N.C. 54 East.

Vehicle-related incidents were more spread out, with reports in Woodcroft, Hope Valley, Fayetteville Road, South Alston Avenue, Page Road, Tricenter Boulevard, Mt. Moriah-adjacent areas, and Southeast Durham corridors.
