Will You Be Neighbor No. 40?
And help Southpoint Access reach 50 supporters on the way to 100 neighbors and $5,000 by Sept. 22!

When I launched the 100 Neighbors for Local News campaign last month, I asked 100 people to help raise $5,000 for independent journalism in South Durham by Sept. 22, my birthday.
So far, 39 neighbors have contributed $667.50.
That puts us 39% of the way toward our community participation goal and 13.4% of the way toward our fundraising goal. The community's showing up. Now, we need to turn that momentum into more reporting.
Money raised through this campaign will help Southpoint Access:
- Pay freelance reporters to cover more South Durham stories
- Cover public records and research expenses
- Invest in the tools and resources needed for original local journalism
Our next milestone is 50 neighbors. If Southpoint Access has helped you keep up with local schools, development, businesses, public safety, events, or the people who make this community special, please consider contributing.
A gift of $10, $25, $50, or whatever works for you will move us closer.
If you can’t contribute right now, sharing the campaign with another South Durham neighbor also helps.
Thanks to the 39 people who have already said local news matters. Let’s find Neighbor No. 40.
Best,
Wes Platt
